Bryce’s 4 tips on how to boost your immune system
Tip #1: My top immune enhancing foods are purple!
Starting off the list of tips on how to easily boost your immune system begins with getting an entire rainbow of colors of fruits and veggies into you every day. But the most important when it comes to your immune system are the purple variety which includes purple Cabbage, blackberries, purple potatoes, purple carrots, beets, plumbs, grapes, etc
How to: find a way to sneak these into your diet daily by applying a “3 S” rule: put them in a smoothie/shake, soup, and a salad.
Tip #2: Contrast showers to boost your immunity
These may not be so comfortable but they are short lived and work by support immunity because they:
– improve blood flow
– reduce inflammation
– improve insulin sensitivity
How to: in the shower, turn it on very hot (careful not to burn yourself) for 1 min. Turn the dial as cold as it can for 1 min. Back to hot 1 min. End on cold for 1 min.
Tip #3: Evidence based natural immune support to consider during this time
You have heard of and may even be taking VitC, VitD, and Zinc. But what do you know about Quercetin, Melatonin, or Echinacea? There is a lot of evidence to support the use of these ingredients right now! But, there is no such thing as “one size fits all” approach to immune support. I have cracked the code on personalizing immune support with “mymmunity” a custom immune support supplement that contains the right ingredients at the right dose for you.
Not everyone wears the same size clothing or eats the same amount of food, so why is there an “average daily dose” when it comes to supplements? Mymmunity focuses on personalizing immunity and using appropriate dosages and ingredients by tailoring them based on your BMI and how you experience an infection like a cold or flu virus. The formula is blended into one single formula, not a bunch of premanufactured pills thrown into a pack. The questions in the mymmunity questionnaire come from medical school and university evidence based screening practices.
How to: fill out a free immune health questionnaire at http://www.mymmunity.com (note: there is no “i” after my)
Tip #4: Managing stress helps your immune system to stay strong
When you are stressed out, cortisol significantly raises in your blood stream. Chronic cortisol suppresses the immune system. Box breathing / four square breathing brings cortisol down…
How to: Close your eyes. Breathe in through your nose while counting to four slowly. Feel the air enter your lungs. Hold your breath inside while counting slowly to four. Try not to clamp your mouth or nose shut. Simply avoid inhaling or exhaling for 4 seconds. Begin to slowly exhale for 4 seconds. Repeat steps 1 to 3 at least three times. Ideally, repeat the three steps for 4 minutes, or until calm returns.
