Cashew Butter

Varieties

Cashew butter is usually sold in jars in natural food stores. At this time, the only variety of cashew butter sold is smooth.

Preparation, Uses, & Tips

In addition to using cashew butter as a sandwich spread, its rich flavor makes it an ideal alternative to cream when thinned with liquid. It can be used to make soups, sauces, and dips. It is especially good in Indian dishes and curries. Because cashew butter is an unprocessed food, the oil and solids sometimes separate in the jar but can easily be stirred together before use.

Storing

Cashew butter is made without additives and should be kept refrigerated to prevent rancidity. If kept in a tightly sealed jar in the refrigerator, cashew butter will keep for up to three months.
